I’d argue that the BO jokes and long-running anal sex joke aren’t in the same style as say the American Pie or Road Trip jokes, they are more intelligently done (my opinion of course). I do see your point on the risk the film has taken though with the style of comedy it’s not main stream and in a way could arguably hold it back. Nothing wrong with being negative when a film brings about a negative response, if anything it promotes a debate which is always more fun.

Hi Paul. Surprised you didn’t think constant ‘jokes’ about BO, and a long-running ‘joke’ about anal sex don’t amount to “boob and fart” humour! Or that an attempted suicide jumping from a 2-storey building, and only getting ‘maimed’ is “true comedy”. I’m also always dubious about films that people say I “don’t get”. Just because it doesn’t appeal to me [or, I would guess, the ticket-buying public] doesn’t somehow mean those who do like it are somehow cleverer than I am. Sorry to be so negative – it was a reasonable enough film, but certainly didn’t appeal to me [although I'm feeling a bit like the kid from the emperor's new clothes in the face of every other blogger who saw it!] Ah well, Prometheus is out in June . . .

Never was a fan of Top Cat, but I agree, it’s nice of them to not have done a Garfield on the show.
