New Trailer for The Defenders Revealed at SDCC

The movie Marvel Universe has The Avengers, but on television the superhero group is The Defenders. We’ve had Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and of course Iron Fist but now they are being brought together to save New York city. This trailer was debuted at SDCC and we saw just what Elektra’s part in the show is going to be, as well as a visit from The Punisher.

The Defenders had a big presence at SDCC with a panel featuring Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist), Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), and Executive Producer and showrunner Marco Ramirez. Moderated by Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, the panel was packed with surprises and sneak peeks, including an appearance by Jon Bernthal, star of the Netflix original series Marvel’s The Punisher coming out later this year and an exclusive clip shown in the room from the series, as well as the announcement of season 2 of Marvel’s Iron Fist.

The Defenders

The highlight of the night was a surprise screening of the first episode of Marvel’s The Defenders which the 6000 fans were treated to almost a month before its global premiere on Netflix on August 18, 2017 at 12:01am PT.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

Marvel’s The Defenders stars Charlie Cox, (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist).  Additional cast members include Academy-Award nominated actress Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra), Scott Glenn (Stick), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing).
