While Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is the focus of all the excitement at the moment, today the trailer and poster for Darkest Hour has been revealed. Looking at the rising of Winston Churchill to Prime Minister, it shows how a stubborn man refused to bow down to the Hitler when all seemed lost for Great Britain. Willing to put the country through harsh times in order to give in to one of the greatest evils the world has ever known, it turned him into one of the greatest leaders the country has ever known.
It is nice to see from the trailer at least, we see just how unwilling people were to put him into power. Just like many heroes of history, Churchill wasn’t the man he was painted to be, but in many ways you could say he was a leader that Great Britain needed. Thankfully the choice made was the right one, as we can now see to this day.
Starring Gary Oldman, Kristen Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, Ronald Pickup and Ben Mendelsohn, Darkest Hour comes to the UK 12 January 2018.
After much anticipation, we are delighted to debut the first trailer and one-sheet for the upcoming film Darkest Hour, from acclaimed director Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice).
Within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (BAFTA-Award winner Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.
As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a sceptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.
Darkest Hour will release in UK cinemas on 12 January 2018.
