While it is hard to think that there would be anybody who hasn’t seen the original Flatliners, you also have to remember that it was first released in 1990. This makes it open for a remake, and yep…today we have a trailer and poster for the new film. Watching the trailer it does look like we are still on very common ground, but there is also the plus that Ellen Paige stars, which is always a plus.
So what did you think of the trailer? It is of course well made, and does make me want to see the film. What I’m more impressed about though is the poster that you can see below. I’m a fan of poster art, especially the kind that actually wants to be a little different. This poster definitely goes with the theme of “looking past” the flatline to what is waiting for us on the other side. Whatever our thoughts on whether this remake is needed, it is happening so we can at least give it a chance.
In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
Starring Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemons, Flatliners comes to UK cinemas in September.
