The Night’s King to sit on the Iron Throne? A Look at the Game of Thrones Odds

The wait is almost over. We have a confirmed release date of mid-July and a full teaser trailer for season seven of Game of Thrones. The snippet released by HBO (see below) doesn’t give away much, but suggests that there will be a jostling for power between Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and Jon Snow, with the White Walkers looming ever closer. Of course, there are plenty of other intriguing side plots in the world of Westeros, and now is the perfect time to speculate on things that will happen in the season ahead as the show moves nearer to its grand climax.

Sports fans have been able to bet on the outcome of their favourite sports for hundreds of years, but geeks have rarely been afforded the opportunity to stake money on their passion for comics, TV shows and cinema. According to http://www.latestbettingsites.co.uk, though, online bookies have opened up a whole new way of betting in which almost anything is possible. Now people are able to request odds and stake on a wide variety of things, and with Game of Thrones being the most popular show on TV with 7.2 million demand expressions per day in 2016, some bookies have already written odds on certain aspects of the series.

So now it is possible for lovers of the show to not only ponder over what they think might happen, but also have a chance of winning some money by guessing correctly. The most popular market is on who will rule Westeros when the series reaches its finale. At the time of writing, Daenerys is the strong favourite at 7/4 to retake the seven kingdoms and sit upon her father’s throne as the rightful heir.

It’s hard to imagine there being an alternative outcome seeing as this has been what the show has been leading up to since episode one. She also has a powerful army, three dragons and a number of influential houses on her side. But with the unexpected and shocking nature of Game of Thrones, there is the possibility that another may triumph in the end. If there isn’t going to be a happy ending, for instance, the Night’s King can be backed at 20/1 to end the series as ruler of Westeros.

The next most popular betting market is on which of the main characters will be next to die. What may come as a surprise to some is that Jaime Lannister is one of the favourites at 2/1 to bite the bullet (or sword) first in the upcoming season. His storyline did become rather stale last time out, but wouldn’t it be far more poetic for the Kingslayer to become the Queenslayer and be the one to vanquish his one true love/evil twin sister?

If Jaime is going to be the one to go, the method of death that is currently leading the betting markets is at the hands of a White Walker, closely followed by a sword/axe blow. Other things to stake on? The religion of the final ruler of Westeros and first dragon death. Don’t worry, Drogon appears safe at 99/1.
