Which is the Best Phone for Geeks in 2016?

With the year almost half unfolded, we have been thus far bombarded with smartphones, some really deserving of the title “flagship device”, while others…well not so much. As each year, the spotlights were mostly turned on smartphones coming from the industry’s big names like Samsung’s Galaxy S7, LG’s G5 or HTC’s 10, but a massive buzz doesn’t always mean that these phones are the best choice for everyone, because let’s face it, their price can turn even the most fervent of phone geeks into looking for more practical devices, money-wise.

Thus, the obvious winner for thousands of tech geeks would have to be one that would have the hardware, performance and design to stand up to top-tier smartphones, but also a price tag that won’t make you skipping lunches so you can afford it. Well, no other device matches that description better than the OnePlus3, because, regardless of whether you want to use it for working on the move or to just download the excellent Casino.com app and do some real money casino gambling, this phone will truly cover all you needs without breaking your bank.

OnePlus  – From Underdogs To Champions

OnePlus only started as an independent company in 2013, but after their first device came out they immediately got everyone’s attention by proving that a small startup company can easily compete with already established manufacturers.

Their first device, the OnePlus 1, made such an impact on the smartphone world that one can’t help but be reminded of the time when Samsung released their first Galaxy S. However, the initial success raised the bar of expectations so high that their next device, the OnePlus 2, was bound to fail reaching it, yet this didn’t stop the company from pushing forward and creating their finest work so far – the “3”.

Hardware for the Win

The biggest reason that this phone makes the best device for geeks is that it hides serious horsepower under its hood. For almost half the price of its biggest rivals, you would expect the “3” to fall short on processing power or RAM. Well, not only does it not, but it also surpasses the best smartphones when it comes to certain features.

Just like almost every flagship phone from this year, the “3” comes equipped with the Snapdragon 820 processor and the Adreno 530, but where it exceeds is the whopping amount of RAM it sports, which is 6 GB. The phone is certainly not the first device to have so much RAM, but it’s a great example of the fact that even large companies can be surpassed in some aspects by smaller up-and-comers.

In fact, the only downside of the phone is the lack of a microSD card slot, but this doesn’t have to be a shortcoming as the phone has a storage space of 64GB. In the end, it all depends on how much data you want to load your device with.

On the other hand, the lack of a card slot is probably due to the phone’s dual SIM card slots, which are another advantage for those who want to use two carriers simultaneously. The phone also comes equipped with a super-fast charging 3,000 mAh battery, a front-facing 8 MP camera and a 16MP main camera, as well as a fingerprint scanner for extra security. Is there anything else one would need?

Sleek Design and Great Display

The “3”, unlike its predecessors, boasts a new aluminum body, which is a major improvement in feel, look and grip over what OnePlus have so far offered. The phone’s design reminds very much of what HTC are doing, which should frankly be a compliment as HTC have some of the most beautiful and sturdy phone designs around. And in case you don’t like the aluminum shell, you can buy official covers made from bamboo, wood, etc, directly from OnePlus and cover it.

The display of the OnePlus 3 might not sound too exciting on paper, but the 5.5 Optic AMOLED screen doesn’t disappoint at all. The biggest criticism concerning the display was its low pixel density of 401 ppi, yet its vibrant colors and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection don’t really make you want to spend a couple of hundreds more for a phone from rivaling manufactures.

Optimized Software

The OnePlus 3 uses the company’s own OxygenOS which runs on Android Marshmallow but it can also be updated to Android N in the upcoming months. The best thing about the software is that it comes only with essential apps and nothing more, which will surely make any geek happy as you won’t have to spend time to get rid of annoying apps or get frustrated with bloated performance. The OxygenOS lets you customize a number of features, from the phone icons to on screen controls, and you can also use plenty of hand gestures to make your life simpler.

When you consider all its features, the bottom line is that the OnePlus 3 is a great device which wears a price tag that will leave you wondering why did you ever thought about paying so much for a top-notch smartphone.
