PS4 vs. XBOX One – Which Should You Get?

The latest console battle is between Microsoft and Sony, it all began back in 2013. As we began to learn more about the two home entertainment systems, it was time for gamers to choose between the two. Yet, we are now in a far better position to work out which console is offering the best experience. This article will explain which you should get and why. Read on to find out.

Microsoft wanted to give gamers an all-round console that offered far more than just gaming. Plenty of focus was put into things such as entertainment and apps. Sadly, however, the rise of the smart TV was in full swing at the point in time and challenged what the XBOX One could offer. Sony, on the other hand, wanted to provide the ultimate gaming experience, with apps and media also offered.

Price was another talking point back in 2013, the PS4 was cheaper than the XBOX One. However, since this time Microsoft has had to take action and now you can pick up an XBOX One for a little cheaper than Sony’s PlayStation 4. Although, they are now more-or-less similarly priced.

The XBOX One is one bulky console, which certainly is no lie. What’s more, it’s not all that aesthetically pleasing, either. After all, it has the nickname ‘VHS One’ for a reason. Yes, it does look quite similar to a VHS player. Sony’s offering though, it looks smart is much smaller and lighter and looks the business. You might not also realise that the XBOX One also comes with a bulky power adaptor, which is a heated brick – ugly and unnecessary. Thankfully, you won’t find any kind of power adapter with the PS4.

Which is more powerful? Any gamer wants to ask this question. Of course, it’s the PS4. Many XBOX One titles don’t deliver 1080p resolution, whereas it’s rare to find a PS4 game that doesn’t. This is all because the PS4 is more powerful.

Interestingly, you should note that Nintendo is actually working on some kind of new gaming console. It’s still a rather secret project and we don’t understand much about it yet other than the project name which is ‘NX’. Keep some money spare for this, it would be an amazing system, but only time will tell here.

PlayStation as a brand continues the trend of being successful and better than the competitors. Virtual reality is going to be huge and therefore you have another reason to select the PS4 due to PlayStation VR. PS VR will allow you to play games within a first-person mode, it’s set to be amazing.

One thing we didn’t know initially was which console would deliver the best exclusive titles. However, for now there is a clear winner, and that is the PS4. From Uncharted 4, which by the way is totally amazing, all the way to Bloodbrone, the XBOX One cannot even be compared within this department. Microsoft has defiantly disappointed with some mediocre releases that didn’t live up to the expectations. It seems fair to say that the XBOX One has lost its identity.

So, which console do I recommend? It’s probably obvious after reading this article. Yes, the PS4 is hands down the better option is nearly every department. I would steer clear of buying the two consoles and enhance your PS4 instead with some amazing accessories such as a headset or PS4 arcade stick, charging station and more.

Finally, I should mention that Sony does appear to be working on an updated PS4 console, it’s currently known to be PS4.5, PS4K or PS4 Neo – whatever it might be called, it might have much greater performance than the original. So you might just want to handback a while before buying one, just to see what this hype is all about.
