Hertz Car and Van Hire Release New App

Hertz-App1

Milton Keynes-based car and van hire giants, Hertz, continues to break new ground in the highly competitive industry of smartphone applications with the release of its On Demand app. Available for all major smartphone platforms including; iOS, Android, Blackberry and now Windows. One of the major features of the app is its ability to locate a stationary car using GPS tagging.

The introduction of this app is part of Hertz’s desire to be “where our customers are” (Paula Rivera, Manager of Public Affairs). There is certainly a growing trend amongst the millions of smartphone users to research and book travel online using these devices.

The application not only allows users to find their parked vehicles – a feature unique to the car rental industry – but also helps users to find the nearest petrol station.

The process of booking a car for hire has never been easier, but the addition of this app to the market continues to make the whole process even less of a headache for users.

The Find My Car feature of the app uses the aforementioned GPS tagging to lead users back to their vehicles, which this writer found particularly useful after a long day, due at least in part to a practically non-existent sense of direction.

The Hertz app also allows users to change the details of their booking at the last minute and provides a plethora of information on reservations and technical support; as well as extensions to the rental period. Impressively, the app also provides additional support for the hearing-impaired.

In the event that a user feels that they might be late returning the car, the app’s impressive functionality comes into its own. Simply extend the booking by an extra half an hour. Using the app could (and will) save users a lot of money in late fines.
